The TSC runs a Buddy-program which helps exchange students settle in quickly. A Buddy is a UDE student volunteer who functions as a contact person and will help you during your stay at the UDE. Your Buddy will assist you in dealing with paperwork and bureaucratic affairs, and will help you solving problems concerning everyday life in Germany. Participating in the Buddy-program will not only help you to learn about living and studying in Duisburg and Essen, but will also ease your initial contact with Germany and Germans.
Responsibilities of your Buddy
Contact before you arrive via e-mail, facebook etc., pick-up from airport/station (if wanted), help with official matters, opening a bank account, orientation at the university, participation in cultural events and TSC’s Stammtisch (optional).
You will find further information in the Buddy-Guidelines which contain all the important aspects for your buddy.
At the beginning of each semester we organize a welcome-meeting for all buddies and all international students of UDE. Here you can meet your buddy (if you have not already done so beforehand), meet other internationals and possibly even find a buddy if you haven’t done so before. This is also your chance to learn more about TSC, other university organisations and our program for the semester.
During the semester, TSC offers a variety of freetime activities at very student-friendly rates for you and your buddy (registration during the Infotreff). Here some examples: visits to the zoo, museum trips, soccer/volleyball tournament, Lasertag, Paintball, ballet/opera, weekend city trips…
The welcome Week in the coming winter term will take place from 4th of October 2019 till 13th of October 2019.
